Help us to continue highlighting leading women in AI by nominating your influential woman for our next edition. RE•WORK holds Women in AI events, podcasts, and blogs.

Advancements in AI in Healthcare – Spotlight from Nathan Wang

#artificialintelligence

Artificial Intelligence is quickly becoming one of the key factors in advancements in the healthcare industry. Ahead of the RE•WORK – AI in Healthcare Summit Boston, we asked Nathan Wang – Deep Learning/Medical Imaging Researcher at Johns Hopkins University his thoughts on the topic. Here's what he had to say: What do you think is the most important advancement for AI in healthcare? In recent years, the field has made great strides in model interpretability. As a researcher, being able to intuitively grasp the "reasoning" behind our AI helps us build more robust and accurate models.

First Woman Director At MIT CS AI Lab: "Want More Women In STEM? Inspire Them Early."

#artificialintelligence

We decide on our careers long before we ever step foot in our workplace. We take cues from our family and dramatized media depictions of professionals who often look and act nothing like their real-life counterparts. Therefore, to solve the gender inequality in technical roles, we need to kickstart our efforts in college or even high school – when students are open-minded, and there is still time to make real change. Because later in life, for every dollar men earn – women earn 81 cents. One woman trailblazing change is Professor Daniela Rus, the first woman director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Computer Science Artificial Intelligence Lab, or MIT CSAIL for short.

#artificialintelligence

Baltimore, MD - Alex Zhavoronkov, PhD, CEO of Insilico Medicine will present a range of deep learned biomarkers of ageing and deep learned predictors of biological age at the RE-WORK Deep Learning in Healthcare Summit in London, 7-8th of April. The first such predictor is already available online at http://www.Aging.AI trained on hundreds of thousands of human biochemistry and cell count samples linked to chronological age, gender and health status. Transcriptomic and signalomic ageing markers and predictors of chronological and biological age and cross-species comparison will be discussed. "RE-WORK summits are clearly outperforming most industry conferences in agility, openness, diversity and focus on applications of deep learning in multiple areas and we are happy to be invited to present at their Deep Learning in Healthcare Summit in London.
